Fear of Abandonment: Comparative Process Tracing of Hedging Strategies in Australia and India Amid U.S.-China Strategic Competition

Abstract: This paper examines how the fear of abandonment has shaped the hedging strategies of Australia and India amid intensifying U.S.-China strategic competition between 2012 and 2022. Drawing on a comparative process-tracing approach, the study introduces an analytical framework that conceptualizes fear of abandonment as a multidimensional strategic anxiety – encompassing the fluidity of security commitments, vulnerability of economic dependence, and scarcity of strategic autonomy. Through case analysis, the paper finds that both countries employ hedging, but diverge in form: Australia adopts an institutional hedging model anchored in alliance loyalty and bureaucratic contradictions, while India pursues a more autonomy-preserving path, marked by selective engagement and non-alignment continuity. These differentiated responses reveal how medium-sized powers recalibrate their strategies to mitigate abandonment risks under structural pressures. The study contributes to the broader literature by moving beyond Southeast Asian-focused analyses and enriching theoretical understandings of hedging through a causally grounded, middle-power perspective. More-than-Human Geography: Core Issues and Trends

Abstract: In the 21st century, in the trend of ‘returning to materialism’ in Western geography, More-than-Human Geography (MTHG) has emerged as one of the most important ways of exploring the world constituted by human and non-human beings. Through the analysis of relevant journal articles and books, the review finds that there are obvious differences between domestic and international research on MTHG: the West focuses on ecological politics and climate ethics with an ontological revolution as the core, while China focuses on the materialistic turn and localised application. As one of the most groundbreaking theoretical paradigms in human geography in the 21st century, MTHG dissolves the dichotomy between natural determinism and social constructivism, reconstructs the spatial cognitive paradigm of dynamic correlation, and provides a technological and ethical framework for cross-species collaboration in urban planning and ecological restoration. The Development Process, Current Status, and Prospects of Population Geography in China

Abstract: Human geography in China has a long history, but its substantial development began after the founding of the People’s Republic of China and accelerated significantly following the Reform and Opening-Up. Population geography, as an interdisciplinary field integrating demography, geography, sociology, and quantitative methods, has evolved to address national population policies and emerging challenges. Modern research focuses on population distribution, migration, urbanization, and contemporary issues such as aging populations, counter-urbanization, declining birth rates, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. These studies aim to optimize China’s population structure and spatial patterns. With the gradual disappearance of the demographic dividend and increasing regional disparities, population geography has become a critical discipline for guiding sustainable development. This paper reviews the historical trajectory, key research themes, and future directions of population geography in China, highlighting its role in addressing complex socio-demographic challenges and informing policy-making. Tort Liability Analysis of Generative Artificial Intelligence in Judicial Application

Abstract: The judicial application of generative artificial intelligence technology has triggered core legal issues such as subject matter eligibility disputes, definition of service attributes and allocation of tort liability. This paper takes Tencent Dreamwriter case and other typical cases as an entry point to systematically explore the difficulties in determining the tort liability of generative artificial intelligence under the current legal framework, focusing on the disputes over the liability of service providers, the dilemma of determining the negligence caused by algorithmic defects, and the ambiguity of defining the infringement behaviours. Through comparative analysis of domestic and international legislative practices, the study reveals the "instrumental" nature of generative AI and the core of the dispute over its legal nature: service providers, as the controllers of the technology, are required to undertake the legal obligations of data compliance review, generation of content labelling, and filtering of illegal information. The study further proposes a functionalist approach to the determination of tort liability, combining the "equivalent causation theory" with the principle of judicial classification to provide a dynamic framework for the division of liability. At the level of risk regulation, China has formed a governance system that combines policy guidance and technical regulation, and has strengthened algorithmic transparency and content traceability through the Measures for the Labelling of Artificial Intelligence-Generated Synthesised Content. The purpose of this paper is to provide both theoretical support and practical guidance for the judicial discretion and institutional improvement of generative AI infringement disputes. Read More

Research on the Feasibility and Risk Response Measures of the Second-hand Clothing and Apparel Trading Market from the Perspective of Pet Economy

Abstract: With the continuous rise in pet ownership and the vigorous development of the "pet economy," the consumer demand for pet clothing has grown significantly. However, the rapid replacement of pet clothing has increasingly raised concerns about resource waste and environmental issues. This paper focuses on the field of used pet clothing, analyzing its development context, current status, and potential value. Socially, the popularization of environmental protection concepts and the cost-effectiveness needs of young pet-owning groups provide a realistic foundation for the used pet clothing market. Economically, the second-hand trading model not only reduces consumer spending but also unlocks the economic value of idle resources. Industrially, recycling used pet clothing helps alleviate textile waste pollution and promotes the sustainable development of the "pet economy." The study identifies key challenges, including the lack of standardized appraisal systems, hygiene and safety concerns, and fragmented distribution channels. It proposes solutions such as establishing quality certification standards, improving cleaning and disinfection processes, and building specialized trading platforms to enhance the circulation efficiency and consumer trust in used pet clothing, thereby contributing to the construction of a green and low-carbon pet consumption ecosystem. This study provides theoretical foundations and practical references for optimizing duty-free policies and formulating marketing strategies. Read More

Research Progress and Prospect of Chinese Tourists' Environmental Responsibility Behavior in Recent Years

Abstract: Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the "five-in-one" strategy has been put forward to the national "14th Five-Year Plan" tourism development plan, which clearly emphasizes the need to promote the construction of ecological civilization and the high-quality development of tourism. As the main actors in tourism activities, tourists have become important participants and implementers of ecological civilization construction in tourist destinations, and their social behaviors in the process of tourism have received extensive attention. However, on the whole, the research on tourists' environmental responsibility behavior still lags behind the needs of practical development, and few studies have been systematically sorted out and analyzed, which limits the innovation and development of relevant policies. In order to track the research trend of tourists' responsible behavior, this paper systematically sorted out the relevant literature on domestic tourists' environmental responsibility behavior in recent years, and sorted out and analyzed its conceptual connotation, structure and scale, as well as its influencing factors and theoretical perspectives. On this basis, this study clarifies the future research direction from the perspectives of various stakeholders in the tourism process, so as to provide countermeasures and suggestions for relevant government management departments, residents and tourists to manage and cultivate environmentally responsible behaviors, and promote the construction and high-quality development of ecological civilization in tourism destinations.
